Vancouver has an international airport located about 25 minutes drive (15 km) from our conference hotel. There is also an airport in Bellingham, Washington that is about 1.15 hours drive (54 miles) from the hotel.

Transit directions from the airport: You can take the skytrain right from YVR airport into downtown Vancouver and take a short bus ride a few blocks to the hotel. Google maps can help with scheduling your route.
Taxis: Taxis, including wheelchair accessible vehicles, are available at taxi stands located on Level 2 of the Domestic and International Arrivals Area. The set rate from the airport to the Westin Bayshore hotel will be $35 CDN. More information can be found here.
International travellers to Canada:
*IMPORTANT INFORMATION*
If you are attending HBES 2016, you may need to apply for a visa to travel to Canada. For visa-exempt foreign nationals, Canada has introduced a new entry requirement known as an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). Find out if you require a visa or an eTA here.
If you need an eTA or Visa:
- Make sure you register for your eTA or visa early to allow for delays
- Ensure you travel to Canada with the same passport you used to apply for your eTA or visa
US citizens do not require an eTA to travel to Canada, but you will be required to carry identification and proof of citizenship in order to cross the border. Find out more about identification requirements for US citizens here.

Cell phone usage: When travelling outside of your country your cell phone carrier will likely charge extra for calls, texts, and data usage. Check with your cell phone carrier to get information about special pricing plans. If you are using a smart phone, make note of settings such as turning off cellular data or data roaming and use WIFI instead to save money on usage. All Westin Bayshore Hotel rooms have free WIFI and the conference rooms will also have WIFI access.
