3-YEAR POST DOC POSITIONS IN EVOLUTIONARY POLITICAL PSYCHOLOGY AND EXPERIMENTAL PHILOSOPHY

Applications are open for a 3-year Post-doctoral Fellowships in Social/Political Psychology and Experimental Philosophy at Aarhus University, Denmark. The deadline is February 1st, 2021.

The Centre for the Experimental-Philosophical Study of Discrimination (CEPDISC) is a Danish National Research Foundation-funded centre of excellence housed at the world-leading Department of Political Science, Aarhus University, Denmark. It is currently advertising five post-doctoral positions, many of which look for expertise in social/political/evolutionary psychology, and which can be found at the following two links:

Post-Doc Position at Washington State University

Dr. Anne Pisor is looking for a postdoc to co-lead a three-year project with co-PI Dr. Monique Borgerhoff Mulder and NGO Mwambao Coastal Community Network. The project is focused on whether between-community social relationships impact resource management — specifically, managing fisheries on the Tanzanian coast. The postdoc will be based in the Human Sociality Lab (www.pisor-lab.com) in Pullman, WA, but will also spend time on site in Tanzania.

Fieldwork, leadership, language, and R skills desired. PhD in any field. Initial 12 month appointment with possibility for renewal for up to two additional years pending satisfactory performance.

Priority review of applications begins Feb 15. Anticipated start date is June 1.

HBES #Pathogens & Social Behavior Roundtable Seminar Series Event on March 4th

HBES is thrilled to announce the next event in our new Roundtable Seminar Series. On March 4th 2021 at 12:30pm -1:45pm EST Drs. Joshua Tybur, Lisa DeBruine, Randy Thornhill, and Daniel Hruschka will engage in discussion, moderated by Dr. Deb Lieberman on the topic, “Pathogens and Social Behavior”. We’re looking forward to engaging with our members on important discussions happening in this area.

 

As prior events, the live-stream of the event will be hosted on crowdcast and the password to register for the event will be emailed out to HBES members the week of the event (check your spam folder!). The recording of this event, and all prior events, will be made available on our YouTube channel shortly following the event.

HBES 2021 In-Person Palm Springs Conference Cancelled

Dear HBES community,

The 2021 HBES conference that is scheduled for Palm Springs will not be held in person given the California pandemic restrictions on hotels and meetings that will continue into the indefinite future. (Even if these are eased by May, the social distancing regulations that would remain in place mean that very few people would be able to attend in person.) The executive council is exploring alternative options to have an HBES meeting online. We will provide updates to the membership via email, social media, and our website as they become available.

For those who have already submitted an abstract for consideration of presentation in Palm Springs: Please consider the abstract officially ‘withdrawn’ from consideration. In the event of a virtual meeting, we will have a new, separate submission form. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

It is unfortunate that we are unable to gather as a society in-person for the second year in a row, but we are hopeful that we can create virtual engagement opportunities for our members. We hope to set up a virtual meeting this summer, but in the meantime we invite you to attend our new virtual Roundtable Seminar Series events that are held regularly throughout the year. We will be hosting an event in February and will send out details in the coming weeks. You can continue to engage with our society and members on social media as well.

University of Utah Anthropology seeking Assistant Professor of Evolutionary Ecology

Department of Anthropology at University of Utah invites applications for a tenure-track position in evolutionary ecology at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin July 1, 2021 (https://anthro.utah.edu/faculty_recruitment/index.php). The Department of Anthropology at University of Utah seeks diverse candidates who complement this historical strength of the department and take a quantitative, empirical approach to the study of human behavior, biology, or evolution. Applications are due February 1, 2021.

 

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Anthropology or a related field by the time of appointment, an established record of high-quality research indicated by external funding and publications, and evidence of relevant teaching and field work experience. A competitive application will present evidence of teaching and research excellence, or potential for the same. We seek candidates whose research, teaching and service have prepared them to contribute to our commitment to engagement and inclusion of culturally diverse audiences.
