The Bridges Programme aims to provide PhD students with deep knowledge of contemporary research questions in the social sciences, and rigorous training in the mathematical and computational approaches needed to answer them. The Max Planck Research Group “Naturalistic Social Cognition: Developmental and Evolutionary Perspectives” at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development, Berlin,Germany, (Research Group Leader: Dr. Annie E. Wertz) seeks applicants for a PhD position.The position will preferably begin October 15, 2016, although the start date is negotiable.

The PhD project will investigate social learning in infancy, with an emphasis on selective learning rules for acquiring and utilizing information about aspects of the natural world (e.g., plants). We seek a PhD student (m/f) with a background in eye tracking and/or infant methodologies; strong skills in data analysis are preferred. The ability to speak German to communicate with participants during studies is a bonus.
