We will now accept proposals from HBES student members for financial support to encourage bringing guest speakers to their university. HBES student members can submit proposals for funding to offset the cost of inviting a guest speaker. The topic of the speaker must be related to the purpose of HBES (see By-Laws). HBES subsidizes travel and/or accommodation costs for the speaker with a maximum of $2,500.
Proposals of no more than two pages of length should have details about the relevance for the student body, the speaker’s talk, estimated costs of travel and accommodation. Proposals should be sent via email to the HBES President by May 31st to be reviewed by the Executive Council. Funding is limited to one proposal per institution per year. Following the guest speaker’s talk, we ask our applicant to submit a written report relating to the event, the audience, and the participants.
